OAG: JAPAN TOPS MEGA AIRLINES, MEGA AIRPORTS WORLDWIDE FOR PUNCTUALITY

 

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- Japan dominates the Top 20 Mega Airlines in the world, with All Nippon Airways in first place with an on-time performance (OTP) of 88.79 per cent, according to OAG Punctuality League 2023.

In a statement, OAG said its Punctuality League 2023 revealed the most punctual airlines and airports in the world.

“Japan Airlines ranked second with an OTP of 88.07 per cent followed by LATAM Airlines in third place (OTP 85.03 per cent) and Azul Airlines came in fourth (OTP 84.87 per cent) among Latin American (LATAM) carriers,” it said.

Five United States (US) carriers round out the Top 10 with Delta Air Lines (OTP 81.79 per cent) ranked sixth, while five European carriers ranked among the Top 20 Mega Airlines, including KLM Royal Dutch Airlines ranking the highest at 11th place (OTP 73.06 per cent).

“Global on-time performance is reaching levels last seen before the pandemic as carriers work to ease operational pressures and delays.

“Confidence in the travel recovery is growing with airlines placing new aircraft orders, new routes being announced and labour challenges seemingly subsiding,” said OAG chief analyst, John Grant.

Among the Top 20 low-cost carriers in the world, Germany’s Eurowings came in first (OTP 95.26 per cent), followed by Thai AirAsia in second (OTP 92.33 per cent) and Jeju Air in third (OTP 91.84 per cent).

In addition, Tokyo Haneda took the first spot with an OTP of 88.06 per cent, among the Top 20 Mega Airports in the world, while in North America, Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International ranked second (OTP 80.08 per cent) and Mexico City International ranked 12 (OTP 72.73 per cent).
