Jumio leverages authentication solution with new video selfie

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 (Bernama) -- Jumio, the leading AI-powered trusted identity as a service provider has announced the launch of its new video-selfie authentication solution, Jumio Authentication to leverage biometrics for initial identity proofing and ongoing user authentication.
The new secure and rapid authentication method is ideal for account logins and high-risk scenarios, creating an online experience that is fast, secure, accurate and easy to use, according to a statement.
It can also be used to unlock doors (rental cars), self check-in (hotels), e-learning (online test taking) and continuous security (re-verifying the identity of ride-sharing drivers on a frequent basis).
“With our new selfie-based authentication, users are not required to repeat the identity proofing process again — they just take a quick selfie — and as the digital chain of trust grows, so does the security level,” said Jumio chief executive officer, Stephen Stuut.
Biometric authentication is the verification of sufficient unique human traits to physically prove users are actually who they claim to be, offering far greater security than previous step-up methods such as knowledge-based authentication and multi-factor authentication.
As past attempts at biometric authentication had their own vulnerabilities enabling fraudsters to fool online identity verification solutions with spoofing attacks, it is essential to check whether the correct user is physically present during the account set-up process.
With Jumio Authentication, online users can take a photo of their government-issued ID (driver’s licence, passport or identification document) and then take a video-selfie, which is instantly analysed via AI to determine they are genuine.
Later, when the user wants to log into their account or whenever a high-risk transaction occurs, Jumio Authentication allows the user to take another video-selfie which is then compared to the original face map, verifying the user and unlocking the account in seconds.
Based in Palo Alto, California, United States, Jumio operates globally with offices in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific. More details on https://www.jumio.com.
