38th Arita and Imari Porcelain Exhibition features Japan's Kyushu traditional art


KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 (Bernama) -- The "38th Arita and Imari Porcelain Exhibition - From Origin to Modern Style" from July 1 to August 1 will introduce the Arita and Imari porcelain -- the first ceramics made in the southern island of Kyushu, Japan.

The exhibition will be hosted by Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo (KPH) -- one of Japan's most prestigious international hotels located in Shinjuku, Tokyo which will feature the country's traditional art.

Marking 38th exhibition, it is a reflection of the strong interest in Arita and Imari porcelain products, KPH said in a statement.

The exhibition will provide over 75 per cent of the hotel's international guests to experience the beauty of Japan´s traditional porcelain products.

Art items representing the Ko-Imari and other styles of porcelain will also be displayed. Seven renowned and modern porcelain makers from the Arita and Imari regions of Saga Prefecture will display their products for sale.

Eight of KPH restaurants' will also serve special foods using porcelain from the regions. Porcelain items made by the renowned pottery makers that have evolved over the 400-year history of the art will be on display.
