MATMERIZE-RESONAC PARTNERSHIP TO REVOLUTIONISE 6G TECHNOLOGY LANDSCAPE

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 (Bernama) -- Matmerize Inc, a materials artificial intelligence (AI) innovator has formed a strategic partnership with Resonac Corporation, aiming at revolutionising the landscape of 6G technology.

Building on the strong collaborative foundation, Resonac will leverage the power of Matmerize’s PolymRize AI software technology to accelerate the development of exceptional high-performance neat and composite materials for 6G technology and beyond.

Matmerize Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Rampi Ramprasad in a statement said collaborating with Resonac on the development of 6G technology was a remarkable opportunity for the company.

“Aligned with Resonac's vision to revolutionise next-generation technologies and powered by Matmerize's commitment to advance AI algorithms, architectures and virtual materials design capabilities, we are poised to usher in a new era of accelerated intelligent materials design,” he said.

In January this year, Resonac announced plans to develop new semiconductor materials for 6G, which is set to be 100 times faster than 5G. New semiconductor materials are needed to substantially reduce the transmission loss associated with the increased communication speed.

To meet this requirement, Resonac will identify optimal materials with the required characteristics through computational and AI methods in a collaborative venture with Matmerize.

Where manual testing using traditional techniques would demand three months to assess a single materials combination, Matmerize's PolymRize reduces the time required to a single day and can evaluate up to 90 combinations within the same three-month span.

The result promises to be a fusion of materials engineering and AI, poised to redefine the development of 6G technology.

In a pilot initiative, Resonac evaluated Matmerize's capabilities, in which predictive models were constructed using PolymRize and third party software for key material properties relevant to 6G technology.

MagBench offers a simple, fast, and cost-efficient, bench-top robotic cell-free DNA (cfDNA) extraction workstation optimised for Yourgene’s Sage 32 NIPT Workflow. This provides clinical laboratories with a streamlined end-to-end solution, from sample to report, enabling them to provide a more accurate and competitive non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) service.

The MagBench Automated DNA Extraction Instrument is easy to use, quick to install and provides users with an intuitive touchscreen user interface with built-in protocols, offering fast run times and flexible sample throughput to meet the laboratory’s testing needs. The MagBench Extraction Kit comprises sample and elution tubes, pre-sealed cartridges with all the reagents needed for efficient cfDNA purification, and individually packaged tip sets with a unique cross-notch design for precise volume pipetting.

Increased automation during DNA extraction, limits hands-on procedures, minimising the chance of human error and with single-use tip disposal and a built-in UV lamp for decontamination between runs, it minimises the risk of cross contamination. It also helps improve the accuracy and consistency of pipetting, resulting in a lower failure rate.

Sage Prenatal Screen offers a Safe, Accurate, Genetic Evaluation of placental DNA in maternal blood using next-generation sequencing in three days. The NIPT workflow includes extracting DNA from the maternal plasma using MagBench, followed by library preparation and enrichment, sequencing, and Sage Link analysis to estimate the risk of a fetus having trisomy 21, 18 or 13, rare autosomal aneuploidies, sex chromosome aneuploidies and the most clinically relevant microdeletions.

Dr Rob Henke, Vice President of Sales, Asia-Pacific at Yourgene Health, said: “Yourgene is committed to delivering best-in-class NIPT solutions, where precision and quality assurance are key. MagBench enables an economical and automated NIPT workflow. Reducing manual procedures improves user experience, facilitating true walkaway time while minimising the risk of contamination and improving testing accuracy. This decreases the number of screening failures, greatly improves efficiency, and helps lower expectant parents’ anxiety.”

KAWASAKI, Japan, Sept 1 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation (Toshiba) has launched silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs, the "TWxxxZxxxC series,” that use a four-pin TO-247-4L(X) package that reduces switching loss with the company’s latest[1] 3rd generation SiC MOSFETs chip for industrial equipment. Volume shipments of ten products, five with 650V ratings and five with 1200V, start today.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20230830606116/en/

The new products are the first in Toshiba’s SiC MOSFET line-up to use the four-pin TO-247-4L(X) package, which allows Kelvin connection of the signal source terminal for the gate drive. The package can reduce the effect of source wire inductance inside the package, improving high-speed switching performance. For the new TW045Z120C, the turn-on loss is approximately 40% lower and the turn-off loss reduced by approximately 34%[2], compared with Toshiba’s current product TW045N120C in a three-pin TO-247 package. This helps to reduce equipment power loss.

A reference design for a three-phase inverter using SiC MOSFETs is published online.

Toshiba will continue to expand its line-up to meet market trends and contribute to improving equipment efficiency and enlarging power capacity.

Notes:
[1] As of August 2023.
[2] As of August 2023, values measured by Toshiba (test condition: VDD=800V, VGG=+18V/0V, ID=20A, RG=4.7Ω, L=100μH, Ta=25°C)

Applications
  • Switching power supplies (servers, data centers, communications equipment, etc.)

ALIPAY+, PAYNET FORGE TIES TO PROMOTE SEAMLESS PAYMENT FOR MALAYSIAN TRAVELLERS

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- Ant Group has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) to expand cross-border payments acceptance at 1.8 million merchants in Malaysia with five leading Asian e-wallets as the first batch, and more to come in the following months.

According to a statement, this partnership with PayNet is enabled via Ant Group’s global cross-border digital payments and marketing solutions, Alipay+, to promote seamless payment for inbound and outbound Malaysian travellers.

By year-end, users of five leading Asian e-wallets, including AlipayHK (Hong Kong SAR), GCash (the Philippines), Kakao Pay (South Korea) and TrueMoney (Thailand), will be able to use cashless payments when they travel to Malaysia with Alipay+, by scanning DuitNow QR, Malaysia's National QR Standard operated by PayNet.

General Manager of Alipay+ Offline Merchant Services at Ant Group, Dr Cherry Huang said the collaboration with PayNet is a significant development for regional travellers.

“We are jointly making efforts to bring local businesses and international visitors closer together, offering not just convenience to tourists but greater opportunities and visibility for Malaysian businesses,” she said.

Meanwhile, PayNet Chief Commercial Officer, Gary Yeoh said the partnership between PayNet and Alipay+ was forged at a vital time when overseas travel and tourism have fully resumed, and rapidly increasing.

“Consumers and merchants in both countries who are already accustomed to digital payments expect the same seamless and hassle-free experience when travelling overseas. They also expect this to be conducted at competitive exchange rates. This collaboration will address both these needs,” he added.

The partnership will enable all Malaysian e-wallets supported by PayNet to be accepted by Alipay+ merchants network globally in 2024.

Beyond payments, Ant Group and PayNet will also collaborate on joint digital marketing efforts to enhance visibility of businesses directly within the users’ e-wallets.
