JUNIPER RESEARCH: ONLINE PAYMENT FRAUD LOSSES TO EXCEED $343 BILLION GLOBALLY OVER THE NEXT 5 YEARS, JUNIPER RESEARCH STUDY FINDS

BASINGSTOKE, England, July 12 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- A new study from Juniper Research has found cumulative merchant losses to online payment fraud globally between 2023 and 2027 will exceed $343 billion. As a comparison, this equates to over 350% of Apple’s reported net income in the 2021 fiscal year; showing the massive extent of these losses.

Online payment fraud includes losses across the sales of digital goods, physical goods, money transfer transactions and banking, as well as purchases like airline ticketing. Fraudster attacks can include phishing, business email compromise and socially engineered fraud.

·  Key Drivers: Online payment fraud losses are partly being driven by fraudster innovation in areas such as account takeover fraud, where a user’s account is hijacked. This is despite the wide employment of identity verification measures.

Innovation Needed in Fraud Prevention Strategies

The research found that in order to combat rising fraud, fraud prevention vendors must orchestrate the right mix of verification tools, at the most effective point in the customer journey, to best protect users, but that this will require significant capabilities to achieve.

Report author Nick Maynard explained: “Fundamentally, no two online transactions are the same, so the way transactions are secured cannot follow a one-size-fits-all solution. Payment fraud detection and prevention vendors must build a multitude of verification capabilities, and intelligently orchestrate different solutions depending on circumstances, in order to correctly protect both merchants and users.”

Heritage Australian Footwear Group Chooses Boomi to Hasten E-commerce and Growth (Graphic: Business Wire)

• Munro Footwear Group connects digital dots to create a central nervous system for online offering
• Following recent wins in Australia and New Zealand, Boomi just surpassed 20,000 customers, setting the industry record for largest customer base among iPaaS vendors

CHESTERBROOK, Pa., July 12 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Boomi™, the intelligent connectivity and automation leader, today announced Munro Footwear Group (MFG) has created an integrated data foundation platform using the Boomi AtomSphere™ Platform to support its e-commerce transformation agenda.

Munro Footwear Group (MFG), Australia’s largest privately-owned footwear company, offers an extensive portfolio of trusted brands such as Midas, Django and Juliette, Colorado, and Diana Ferrari. The company is ready for its next stage of growth — with an impressive retail and e-commerce network firmly established, MFG has identified the strategies and technologies required to deliver what will be a market-leading experience in footwear.

When COVID-19 hit and MFG was forced to temporarily close its stores, the company identified an urgent need to strengthen its existing online offering. To accelerate the company’s digital roadmap, Keng Ng, chief technology officer (CTO) at MFG, prioritized building an intelligent digital back-end that would connect every facet of the business required to deliver a positive customer experience, and solve the historical disconnect between the footwear industry and e-commerce.

“While a slightly too small or large top may not result in a return, the same cannot be said about footwear. For this reason, footwear remains one of the last retail categories to fully embrace online sales. This, along with the internal complexities faced after conducting eight acquisitions over the last decade, prompted us to engage a specialist to help connect our data requirements, integrate multiple systems, and provide us the flexibility to unplug and connect new ‘things’ so that changes to the business aren’t open-heart surgery each time,” said Ng.

MFG selected Boomi’s low-code, cloud-native integration platform as a service (iPaaS) to integrate the systems that make up its brick-and-mortar and e-commerce operations. This enabled MFG to bridge its in-house retail application with its enterprise resource planning (ERP) and ordering systems, in less than a month.

As a result, MFG enabled ‘ship-from-store’ capabilities across 26 pilot stores in a space of four weeks, facilitating business continuity during the pandemic. Based on the company’s online revenue generated from these pilot stores, MFG plans to roll out this service across its remaining retail network by the end of 2022.

“The Boomi AtomSphere Platform enables us to connect operations so we have visibility and control over our data, allowing us to make real-time decisions and furthering our expansion online,” said Ng. “These connections also helped us mitigate supply chain issues by enacting quick, tactical changes while some of our containers were held up in Asia for several months.”

MFG selected the Boomi platform for its versatility, development speed, and ease of use. With more than 200 integrations live, MFG now launches services faster, has resilient operations, and offers flexibility for new systems and applications in the business.

As MFG continues to accelerate its digital roadmap, the company will prioritize building intelligence into the business and across all banners to ensure customer personalization.

“There’s a lot of data that just lives in people’s minds. Our goal was to capture that information in a consistent way that drives real-time intelligence, whether it’s in the office, in the warehouse, or on the shop floor,” said Ng.

Nathan Gower, Head of Business Development, Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) at Boomi said, “Traditional retailers experienced a battering during COVID-19, with in and out lockdowns across the country testing the business viability of those heavily relying on brick-and-mortar. By using Boomi to create a central nervous system for its systems and data, Munro Footwear Group overcame these hurdles and kept pace with the digital economy. From here it’s onward and upward for the company, with the integrated data foundation primed to drive intelligence and embed personalization across the business.”

Boomi, the pioneer of cloud-based iPaaS – and now a category-leading, global software as a service (SaaS) company with more than 20,000 customers – touts a growing user community of over 100,000 members, a worldwide network of more than 800 partners, and one of the largest arrays of global system integrators (GSI) in the iPaaS space. Boomi has been positioned as a Leader in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Enterprise Integration Platform as a Service (EiPaaS) for eight consecutive years. The company recently received the Gold Globee® Award in the Platform as a Service (PaaS) category, and has garnered numerous awards for being an employer of choice, including a recent listing as one of Inc. Magazine’s Best Workplaces.

POLYPLASTICS' DURAFIDE (R) PPS DELIVERS INCREASED TRANSMITTANCE AND TOUGHNESS IN LASER-WELDED APPLICATIONS

 TOKYO, July 12, 2022 /Kyodo JBN-AsiaNet/ --

Polyplastics Co., Ltd., a leading global supplier of engineering thermoplastics, is finding successful use of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) in laser-welded applications such as automotive parts thanks to materials with enhanced capabilities. The company offers DURAFIDE (R) PPS 1130A1 which delivers greater transmittance and toughness and facilitates laser welding in a range of applications.

Laser welding is a joining method that offers a long list of advantages, but it has been difficult to actually use with PPS due to its low laser transmittance and related mass production issues such as a narrow processing window. Polyplastics' linear-type DURAFIDE (R) PPS is characterized by its white natural color, as opposed to the reddish-brown natural color of competitive crosslink-type PPS materials. That gives it superior laser transmissibility (light transmissibility in the infrared region) and makes laser welding possible.

DURAFIDE (R) PPS 1130A1 provides an approximately 6% improvement in laser transmittance which results in a wider processing window for a broad range of welding conditions. The material also delivers an approximately 28% improvement in toughness versus standard grades. This exceptional toughness is important for initial strength and durability. DURAFIDE (R) PPS 1130A1 also offers strong dimensional stability, low warpage, and chemical resistance.

DURAFIDE (R) PPS 1130A1 enables the use of laser welding for production of automotive electric components for which this method could not readily be used before. These automotive parts include electric water pumps, shift actuators, electric variable valve-timing actuators, solenoid valves, and various sensors.

Polyplastics is currently undertaking a development project to provide even better laser transmittance of PPS and further widen the processing window.

VINFAST INTEGRATES INTELLIGENT SPEED ASSISTANCE FROM HERE TECHNOLOGIES INTO VF 8 AND VF 9

  • The HERE ISA (Intelligent Speed Assistance) Map will be on board VinFast’s VF 8 and VF 9 electric SUVs for European markets from the second half of 2022
  • High-quality speed limit data from HERE enables VinFast to meet the European Union’s ISA regulation in support of driver safety

Singapore, Bangkok and Hanoi, July 12 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- VinFast, Vietnam’s leading manufacturer of premium automobiles, today announced that it will be integrating the HERE ISA Map into the VinFast VF 8 and VF 9 electric sport utility vehicles (SUVs) for the European markets to comply with the European Union’s (EU) General Safety Regulations on ISA mandate aimed at improving driver safety.

Developed by HERE Technologies, the leading location data and technology platform, the HERE ISA Map provides information on both explicit speed limits visible on road signs and implicit speed limits derived from road signs without numerical values. Providing drivers with this important safety guidance on local speed regulations is especially useful when drivers have difficulty recognizing situational speed limits, are distracted, have missed traffic signs and warnings, or have impaired visibility due to bad weather.

ISA is an in-vehicle driver assistance feature that seeks to reduce the number of road accidents and traffic casualties. It informs drivers about a road’s speed limit and warns them if they exceed the speed limit.

Starting in July 2022, ISA is mandatory for all new-model cars, vans, trucks and buses produced for the European markets. From July 2024 onwards, automakers must equip every new vehicle sold in the EU with ISA functionality.

By integrating the HERE ISA Map into the VF 8 and VF 9 models for European markets, VinFast is able to provide its consumers with enhanced safety solutions, as well as to comply with the EU’s General Safety Regulations.

Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy, Vingroup Vice Chairwoman and VinFast Global Chief Executive Officer shared, “VinFast always aims to comply with traffic safety regulations in our global markets. HERE ISA map will provide VinFast drivers with accurate speed limit information in an intuitive manner that makes the overall VinFast driving experience safer and more desirable.”

Edzard Overbeek, Chief Executive Officer at HERE Technologies said, “HERE is a proud partner of automotive OEMs globally as we seek to improve driver and roadway safety together. We look forward to bringing driver safety to greater heights and continue to support VinFast’s rapid and successful growth in multiple markets.”

The HERE ISA Map will be available in the VinFast VF 8 and VF 9 electric SUVs in Europe from second half 2022.
